In 2 Peter 1:5-11, Peter is telling the believers what they need to do to grow in their faith and as Christians. Because we have been given the gift of everlasting life, we are supposed to seek a godly life and share that gift with others, and Peter is telling them about this.
Jesus is the author of our faith and the finisher of it as well, and when we grow in our faith, then we will also be growing in virtue. Reading God's word, and studying it allows the Holy Spirit to give us knowledge. We will then begin to have self-control, and that will make us perservere towards godliness, and by living our lives in a godly manner, brings brotherly love.
It starts with faith in Jesus, and as we grow and take our journey with Him, we see that He builds us up with character and grace. When we take these things in and keep them close, we will be fruitful for God and our lives will be blessed.
Always remember that we are all on a journey with God, and He makes us grow through our experiences. Never lose heart in doing right, and your rewards will be great!
