Gifts Of The Holy Spirit

I would like to talk a little more about the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

We all have them, but do we use them as we are supposed to? How can we get more of the gifts and what are they?

First we need to understand how and why we get them.

Romans 12:4-8 tells us that we are all members of the same body and we each have a different purpose.

God determines what gifts He can use best with who, and He gives us these gifts through the Holy Spirit. He specifically picks gifts for each, to benefit all.

God didn't give them to us so we would just ignore them, we are to use them with all we have, and to continue to grow in them. We should use them without restraint.

If we read Romans 12:9-21 we see how we live by using those gifts, and how to live godly lives.

We see in I Corinthians 12:4-11 that God works through a diverse amount of gifts and activities, all through us all, making one body of Christ. Each of us has gifts to help one another. The Holy Spirit is given to all, so that all can benefit.

The gifts of the Spirit, I believe, are anything that God gives us to help us live godly lives. The Bible tells us that some of these gifts are love, hope, faith, prophecy, speaking other tongues, interpretor of prophecy or tongues, teaching, ministry, exhortation, or uplifting others, discerning spirit, or being able to see danger ahead of time, or how to help someone, word of wisdom and knowledge, miracle workers and healers.

I believe that the list is endless, and I Corinthians 13:13 tells us that love is the greatest of them all.

I Corinthians 12:31 tells us that we should earnestly desire these gifts. We should pray that God give them to us through the Holy Spirit, we should read scriptures about them, like chapters 12, 13, and 14 of I Corinthians, and just grow more in these gifts.

Without love, you cannot use any of the gifts, so we must diligently study it, practice it, and ask God to open your ears to the Holy Spirit's guidance.
